Laura Marling is such a beauty artist who brings so much story to a song. This is her singing 'Night After Night'. Beautiful. I can imagine this being in a Quentin Tarantino movie. -G

GIRLS: HBO!

Fresh, Vibrant, completely amazing and relatable and yes! I am talking about Lena Dunham's witty, cynical and sarcastic dialogue in the series called "Girls". I am reviewing season one today just incase people want to catch up before season 2 which thankfully airs Monday 14th for the UK.

To start off, Girls is about four girls in the twenties and they all live in New York. Cue the "OMG LIKE SEX AND CITY"...No..it is NOT! Far from it. You take Sarah Jessica's perfect little word and turn it upside down because that is Girls. It is far from living in that bubble, in fact, it is one of the most realistic things I've watched on television. I don't want to give too much away but I'm sure you won't be disappointed. This isn't just for girls, it relates to male audiences too with quite a few males on the scene, I've got my twenty four year old brother into the series, he loves it, and I know plenty of other boys who do too!

All four girls are talented showing their range of acting. It is gritty and they are not afraid to get naked in this show from the get go!

I would recommend! Okay, underneath, I am going to show you season 1 trailer, season 2 trailer and some clips from season 1.

'McCullin'

Considering the sensitivity of the subject it covers I didn't really want to just cover my thoughts on this lightly as it did really intrigue myself. 'McCullin' is a documentary film covering the poignant life of Don McCullin, whom is a British photojournalist whom is mainly known for his war photography.

The documentary covers a general overview of his career, if you want to know an insight into what that is almost everything is covered on his Wikipedia page (oh internet you are helpful), but it talks through what his life was like 'behind the camera' and how it has effected his life. A quote I liked included was McCullin being asked 'Why don't you just take pictures for page 3 and earn £500 a day', with his response being he wanted people to know the truth about the cruel thing he hated- humanity.

His work is truly remarkable, and although I do love films I do love documentaries because what more could you want than the things that are/were actually happening in the world we live in.

I won't show too much of his work, as I do think you should watch the Documentary/Film (Currently showing at the Cornerhouse till the 10th January 2013) but below is one of my favourite photos of his work, which was featured in his film.

As with alot of photography and art based subjects, you either have it or you don't. I think the best photo's are taken without planning but like they were fully planned which McCullin is awe admirable for.

I'd definitely go and watch it, or even so find out about his work.

"I'm Here" a short film by Spike Jonze

This is a short sci-fi film called 'I'm Here' by Spike Jonze.

'A library assistant plods through an ordinary life in LA until a chance meeting opens his eyes to a the power of creativity and ultimately, love. When this new life and love begin to fall apart, he discovers he has a lot to give. This short film proves that ordinary is no place to be...'

I found the visuals perfect and the story is so imaginative, I'd definitely have a watch if you have a spare half an hour.

Review: Sleeping Beauty

Still cannot believe I haven't given some sort of concluded opinion towards this film yet, as I did first watch it well.. last year *cue Happy New Year speech..*. I guess I never really thought an concise opinion to it due to not finding it to be well publicized in the UK? Nevertheless I was reminded of it the other day after seeing a copious amount of tweets concluding it being the 'Weirdest film ever, but very good' to 'boring'- and decided this was a calling for me to share my thoughts on it.

Sleeping Beauty, not to be mistaken with the classic child story but racily 'adult-ifies' it, is an Australian drama film is the debut as a director; Julia Leigh. Focuses on the tale of a young (played by Emily Browning), beautiful University student who begins erotic freelance work where she is required to sleep in bed alongside paying 'customers'. It was featured in the 2011 Cannes film festival.

I personally liked it, in a weird way I did like it. Not due to the explicit scenes or anything like that, but due to just the beauty of the film which I cannot compare to any other film I have seen before. I love the pretentiousness but also lack of speaking it did involve I felt was good.

Do note, I wouldn't suggest watching it on your laptop on a busy train..........haha

But it definitely is worth a watch if you have more of a varied view towards the 'art' of a film.

Dunham Massey

Dunham Massey, as a child, was always one of my favourite places to have a picnic in summer or go for a 'Christmas walk'. I love the eery feel of the place in Winter time, I can imagine a romantic thriller being set here. Above is just a picture I took on my Polaroid today.

numero uno

This was an outfit I wore a while back, but obviously never got round to sharing it. I literally love wearing 'fancy tights' (as my Mother likes to refer them to) but I'd never wear fishnets but I wore them and they looked okay (better than expected haha). All items were vintage, except obviously the tights and I wore my Aggy Dr Martens, which are a platform black patent boot.
